"Sexual abuse is one of the few crimes that bring more shame to the victim than to the offender (Dan Allender, 1992)." The wounds and struggles that follow are often as difficult to deal with as the original abuse. Many people who have experienced violation feel alone, confused, depressed, and sometimes as if they are going crazy. Shelter from the Storm provides a supportive environment that acknowledges your suffering, provides concrete ways to express your painful experience to God, and encourages the healing process through small steps of faith. This group follows a biblically-based curriculum exploring how the gospel redefines our stories and addresses issues like suffering, shame, self-protection, anger and forgiveness. .

Registration Requirements: completed pre-group questionnaire (available here). Participants are also required to complete a pre-group interview to be arranged by the Facilitator.

Homework: there will be at least 3 hours of homework per week.

Other considerations: We strongly advise that you miss not more than 2 sessions of this course. Missing more will both inhibit your own personal growth as well as adversely affect the group dynamic. Registration for the group will be closed after the second session.
